Our July artist, Delaney Smith, is visiting us TWICE in July, all the way from Dallas. First, for the July 6 First Friday reception, and second, to teach one of her fan fave workshops -- Coiled Bowls.
These bowls make an incredible addition to your collection of handcrafted home decor, they make great gifts, and once you learn the skill, you can even create variations with handles and a variety of shapes!
Students will get to enjoy a four-hour intensive during which Delaney, our expert instructor, will cover:
- an introduction to the natural dye process including the harvesting of natural materials and the application to raw materials like cotton and linen
- an introduction into the history of bowl-making
- instruction on how to create fabric / ribbon-wrapped coiled bowls
Students will leave with an incredible new skill, and their very own, handmade coiled bowl (all supplies included) made with cotton cording and hand-dyed cotton ribbon.
Finished bowls measure roughly 9"t x 8"w, but depth, height, and shape vary depending on students' tastes.
- pre-dyed cotton fabric
- cotton cording
- wrapping tools
