Asheville artist Grace Engel has participated in residencies all over the country, and traveled the world, and her art reflects the variety of her life and experience!
Engel is a textile artist, painter, illustrator, community builder -- is mostly a self-taught artist born and raised in the midwest, who now calls Asheville home-base.
Her work focuses on the body from a female perspective, and she draws inspiration from her peers, her work in the mental health field, and her life experience of sensitivity and vulnerability.
Grace's work explores difficult issues surrounding gender, identity, and sexuality, and comments on the particularly female experience of living life in "the gaze."
She's S+B's March exhibitor, and we hope you'll come out to see her fine work!
At the beginning of her exhibition, she'll be teaching a Botanical Watercolor Workshop (this Thursday, March 1)!
And at the end, she'll be teaching a Knot Sampler Wall Hanging Workshop!!!
Come check it out!
