Fiber-Wrapped Necklace Workshop

I'm so excited to get back in the swing of teaching DIY workshops, and my first in Knoxville is being hosted by RALA in the Old City.

They have been super generous in supporting my work/artistic efforts and have really welcomed me as a new 'creative' in Knoxville, and I think it's going to be really fun to have a class in their beautiful new space.

In this workshop, you'll be able to make two fiber-wrapped, leather necklaces and there will be a couple different style options.

Currently swooning over this design:

The leather we'll be using is all hand-cut and salvaged. I regularly make trips to craft and leather supply shops where I'm able to purchase the odd pieces they gather from old pieces of furniture, samples from leather and furniture supplies, and odd pieces that would otherwise get trashed. I like doing it this way for two reasons:

  1. S&B contributes very little to the leather "demand" and, although I've discovered I'm personally too weak to be vegetarian, I try to limit my participation in the "demand" of animal products whenever possible in my personal life as well as business. Purchasing salvaged leather is one of the ways I do that.
  2. Everything is limited-run! What I have today won't be what I have tomorrow, so you can be sure that only so many people out there will have something exactly like yours :)

The fiber is all yarn and embroidery thread from my personal collection, and, I'm kind of obsessed with fiber, so, yeah, there are going to be a lot of options.

There are just a few spots left and we would love to have you! Get all the class details and sign up here.
